Academic Advising
You can view your assigned advisor in your 51情报站 Portal and DegreeWorks. You may also use this directory to identify and contact your academic advisor. If you are still unable to identify your advisor, then you may contact advisor@odu.edu for assistance and advisor referral.
Academic advisors are available by email, phone, and Zoom. Please reach out online to your advisor directly or advisor@odu.edu for questions and help scheduling an appointment.
Zoom is a cloud-based web conferencing service available to 51情报站 faculty, staff and students, allowing users to host and participate in meetings online. Review the Zoom for Students guide and the Zoom at 51情报站 website for tutorials.
Advisors are offering virtual appointments through zoom. Contact your academic advisor if you need help scheduling a meeting.
Please follow the steps for your admit term and student type at the Monarch Orientation website. Monarch Orientation and advisng sessions will be held virtually and require live participation. The degree plan hold is removed when you attend Monarch Orientation or an advising session.
New on-campus Freshman students should register to attend Freshman Monarch Orientation.
New on-campus Transfer students should complete the online orientation in Canvas and register to attend either Transfer Monarch Orientation or a transfer advising session.
Distance Learning/51情报站Global students must complete the . Upon completion, update your 51情报站 student checklist and submit the "Contact Your Advisor" form. This will connect you with your 51情报站Global student success advisor so you can begin registering for courses.

New Incoming Students
New freshman and transfer students who are attending either a Freshman or Transfer Monarch Orientation session may log into the Monarch Orientation reservation system to update your major. If you need help changing your major in the Monarch Orientation reservation system, then contact orientation@odu.edu for assistance.
New transfer student with 24+ credits who are not attending Monarch Orientation should email advisor@odu.edu for assistance with the major change.
Currently Enrolled Students
Current students should contact the academic advisor for their new major. The advisor will update the major and provide feedback about academic planning for the new degree program.
Students who would like guidance before changing their major or are not sure who to contact for advising should reach out to advisor@odu.edu for assistance.
Reactivation or Readmission (students returning after a break in enrollment)
Students reactivating after at least a calendar year break in enrollment may contact the academic advisor for their new intended major. Students who are unsure about their major or would like guidance before changing their major should reach out to advisor@odu.edu for assistance.
Students readmitted after serving an academic suspension should contact advisor@odu.edu for major change requests.
Asynchronous v. Synchronous Courses
Check the Meeting Times box.
Live onilne courses will list a specific day and time, and the Building will begin with WC2, WC5, WC7, or WC8 (WC = Web Conferencing). You are expected to connect to class at the day(s) and time listed.
Asynchronous online courses will not have a day or meeting time listed, and the Building will begin with WEB2, WEB5, WEB7, or WEB8.
Course Registration - General Questions
You may register for classes as long as your admission is active and there are no holds on your account. You are strongly advised to review your DegreeWorks and reach out to your advisor with any questions prior to registering.

Review your degree evaluation and plan by clicking on DegreeWorks on the right sidebar in your . Contact your academic advisor with any questions.

You may drop or add classes using Banner XE Registration in Leo Online. Check the academic calendar for add and drop deadlines.
If you have a hold, you may drop a course by emailing register@odu.edu (include your name, UIN, and the course information).
You are strongly advised to consult with the Office of Student Financial Aid and your academic advisor prior to withdrawing from a course.
You may withdraw from a course using Banner XE Registration in Leo Online. Withdraw requests must be submitted by the last day for each session. Check the academic calendar for withdraw deadlines.
If you have a hold, you may withdraw by emailing register@odu.edu (include your name, UIN, and the course information).

For all new students, the degree plan hold is removed when you attend Monarch Orientation or meet with an advisor.

51情报站 Admissions processes all official transcripts for credit evaluation. If you believe you are missing credit or your associates isn't posted, then contact Transfer Evaluation Services (transfereval@odu.edu) to verify that your final official transcript reflecting your associate confirmation date has been received.
Yes, appointments for pre-transfer advising are offered through our Transfer Center. Please schedule an appointment with one of our Transfer Center advisors online.
