Funded by Patricia and Douglas Perry to honor the major contributions of President John R. Broderick and First Lady Kate Broderick to 51情报站 and the Commonwealth, the Broderick Scholarship Program provides opportunity scholarships to help Perry Honors College students pursue their educational interests while making a difference in the world.

"The Perrys have been loyal friends of the University for many years," President Broderick said. "With this scholarship program, they will help talented students extend their education and expand their potential."

Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average in the Honors College can apply, provided they have at least two semesters remaining to complete the opportunity. The value of the scholarship ranges from $5,000-$20,000; two to six scholarships will be awarded annually.

Working with a faculty mentor and the Prestigious Scholarship Coordinator in the Perry Honors College, applicants will design and pursue a learning experience that integrates the three pillars of an honors education: research, civic engagement and leadership. Examples of projects include undergraduate research, internships, community engagement, study abroad, creative and artistic projects, and other types of experiences students would not be able to have without the scholarship.

The University Honors Council with representatives from the academic colleges and the campus community will review the applications, conduct personal interviews, and forward recommendations to the President and First Lady for their review and final selection.

"We have some of the best faculty and students that you can find anywhere," said David Metzger, Honors College dean. "But many students can't take advantage of the full-range of educational opportunities that 51情报站 offers because of their work and family obligations. This scholarship fills a need for our most accomplished students."

The deadline for scholarship applications is March 1. Students not in the Honors College are encouraged to apply to the college using this link in order to be eligible for the scholarship.

Instructions for applying can be found on the Perry Honors College web page.
