Last semester the CFD sent out a survey asking about your interests in terms of faculty development. One topic some indicated they wanted to know more about was faculty burnout.聽
This year we'd like to have a real discussion with faculty and administrators about burnout and how we can help faculty who might be experiencing frustration with trying to move forward in their careers and handle stress during a time when they also need to have a meaningful life outside of 51情报站.
In an email earlier this month, I shared with faculty some of my own reflections on burn out. I was amazed by the number of responses I received and the many stories relayed. Clearly burn out is a real concern.
If you share an interest in this topic, please consider volunteering to serve on a Center for Faculty Development panel at an upcoming event? You might have expertise with the topic of faculty burnout tied to your academic discipline, your personal experience, or you might just be interested in the subject. Whatever your background, we'd like to have a few private working sessions about faculty burnout in preparation for offering a panel discussion about it next semester.
Many faculty have already responded to this request. If you are interested, there is still time to let us hear from you. Please contact the Center for Faculty Development at cfd@odu.edu.
