Synchronous courses mean that participants will meet at a specified date and time (location could be online or in person).

Asynchronous courses do not have any set meeting times. The modules are completely online and self-led. You can engage with the course at a pace that matches your schedule.

It depends. You must register for all synchronous courses. These may include:

We have two certificate programs:

These programs require you to complete a series of courses to earn your final certificate. You can also receive a Certificate of Completion for each individual course that you complete.

HR professional development courses are provided at no cost to eligible 51情报站 employees.

Eligible employees include:

Develop Your Dominion refers to the Professional Development courses either created, curated, or facilitated by our HR Training & Development Team. There are 2 types of Develop Your Dominion courses:

  1. Synchronous Facilitator-Led Courses
    These courses are facilitated by our team, have specific meeting times (online), and require registration to attend. The available courses are listed on this page.
  2. Asynchronous Self-Led Courses
    These are online learning modules. We have custom-created courses available on the Commonwealth of Virginia Learning Center (COVLC), and we have specially curated courses available on LinkedIn Learning.

Yes, you must register to participate in the Develop Your Dominion Facilitator-Led (synchronous, online) courses.

However, there are a number of on-demand Develop Your Dominion courses available on the Commonwealth of Virginia Learning Center (COVLC) that are asynchronous and do not require registration as they are self-directed. If you like self-paced courses, you should also check out our course collections available on LinkedIn Learning.

  • For courses taken in the COVLC:

    • Once you have completed the course, scroll to your Completed Training section and if a certificate is available, click on or tab to the radio button, "View Certificate"
    • Click on the Print button located at the top left of dialog box
  • For courses taken in LinkedIn Learning
    • , or your Certificates of Completion on your LinkedIn profile.

    An online learning management system that is hosted by the State of Virginia.

    There are several types of online courses housed in the COVLC, such as:

    • New Employee Orientation
    • Benefits for Full-Time Employees
    • Mandatory State of Virginia Trainings
    • Virginia Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) Courses
    • Develop Your Dominion courses (online, asynchronous)
    • Other 51情报站 Departments courses (Ex: Travel Card training, etc.)

    You must use the Search Bar to find courses on the COVLC. Once logged into COVLC, locate the search bar near the top.

    If you are searching for Develop Your Dominion courses, type "Develop Your Dominion" and all related courses will appear. If you are searching for Managing Virginia Program courses, type "MVP" and all related courses will appear. You may also search by individual course name.

    No. You do not have to register for any courses hosted on the COVLC. These are asynchronous, self-directed courses you can complete online at your own pace.

    Yes, once you have successfully completed your online course, click on the View Certificate button to download or print.

    You do not have to enroll in the LMDC program. Simply register for an eligible course and you are on your way!

    We recommend downloading the LMDC Tracking Log to help guide your course choices and track your completion of certificate requirements.

    When you have completed all requirements, use to contact the HR Training & Organization Development Team to request your certificate!

    It depends. You must register to participate in the Develop Your Dominion synchronous facilitator-led online courses. However, for your electives there are asynchronous course options on COVLC and LinkedIn Learning that are self-paced and do not require registration.

    Yes, but only for asynchronous electives. In synchronous facilitator-led courses, your attendance is already recorded. If you didn't take any asynchronous elective courses on COVLC or LinkedIn Learning, then you don't have to provide any certificates.

    You can request your LMDC certificate , and upload your accompanying certificates as needed.

    • Go to the LinkedIn Learning website at or click one of the above content collections to go to the site.
    • Click the "Sign in" button.
    • Enter your 51情报站 email address and you'll see a message: "Your organization requires you to sign in with Single Sign-On."
    • Click "Sign in with Single Sign-On"
    • Enter your MIDAS ID and password.

    From there, start learning! You can search for topics or go through one of our curated courses above for a certificate.

    Yes. There are certificates available for most of our curated courses.

    Downloading from the Course page

    1. Navigate to the course that corresponds to the certificate you'd like to view.
    2. Below the video player, on the Overview tab, click Download certificate.

    Downloading from the Learning Path page

    1. Navigate to the learning path that corresponds to the certificate you'd like to download.
    2. Click Download from the upper right corner of the page.

    Downloading from your Learning History

    To download certificates for your courses or learning paths from your Learning History:

    1. Click Saved at the top of your homepage.
    2. Click the Learning History tab.
    3. Locate the course or the learning path you'd like to save the certificate for, and click More .
    4. If you wish to download certificates from courses within a learning path, click Show content () and click More .
    5. Select Download certificate from the dropdown.

    No. You do not have to register for any courses hosted on LinkedIn Learning. These are asynchronous, self-directed courses you can complete online at your own pace.

    Yes, you must register online to attend and receive credit for the classes. Please register for each class separately to receive attendance credit for each class.

    Please obtain supervisor approval before registering for a course.

    Yes. Supervisor Essentials is an interactive and progressive three-day training. To earn your Supervisor Essentials certificate, you must attend all three classes, in order.
