Effective Date: Ongoing
One of our largest integration tasks right now is the migration of individual workstations and email accounts to 51情报站 servers. This is happening a little at a time over the next several months, and we are working closely with each department to ensure that all needs are met and concerns are addressed. We will let you know exactly what date your workstation and mailbox will be migrated and what you can expect, and we will work closely with you to make sure your files are safe.
See the table below听for an estimate of when your department鈥檚 computers might be migrated, keeping in mind that timelines are not set in stone.
What鈥檚 changing:
- After your workstation has been migrated, you鈥檒l log in with your 51情报站 email address and password.
- Your device will be configured with 51情报站鈥檚 standard software and enrolled in endpoint management for easy remote updates.
- You will have an updated version of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, where you will access your 51情报站 mailbox.
What鈥檚 staying the same:
- You will not lose any of your work files. Before your scheduled migration date, a technician will work with you to ensure all of your files are safely stored in OneDrive.
- Your legacy EVMS shared drives, network settings and printer access should remain unchanged. A technician will also meet with you the morning following your migration to ensure you are all set.
To do:
- Please take some time to clean out any files you no longer need.
听
Workstation Migration Process
Before your migration
- Make sure your files are backed up.
Go through the files on your hard drive, delete anything you no longer need for business purposes and backup your files to OneDrive.
听 - Optional: Back up bookmarks, signatures and templates.
- Restart your computer.
Before you leave work on the evening of your scheduled migration,听restart your computer without logging back in.
听
The morning after your migration
When you get to the office, log in to your newly configured computer with your 51情报站 email address and password. (This first login cannot be done remotely.) Follow these steps to set up your computer the first time you log in. - Optional: Restore bookmarks, signatures and templates.
What to expect post-migration
The morning after your computer has been reconfigured, you'll log in to your workstation with your new 51情报站 email address and MIDAS password. Your shared drives, network settings and printer access should remain unchanged, but you will see an updated version of Microsoft Office.
Administrative Rights
If you have a justifiable business need for administrative rights on your 51情报站 desktop, you can request access through MIDAS. Go to听, click on Account Request, and ask for an听Active Directory Administrative Account. If approved, you will have rights to install software and change system settings (in accordance with the听Desktop Administrative Rights Standard).
听
Remote Desktop
If you need to connect to your 51情报站-managed computer remotely (from a non-managed computer at home, for example), the process is similar to what you are used to.
Microsoft Office
In addition to some cosmetic changes, there will be a few new features in this version of Office and stronger cross-device support.
Settings that will stay the same after migration:
- All Office user files
- Outlook emails
- Outlook calendar events
- Outlook contacts
Settings that will stay the same if you take action:
- Email signatures (backing up and restoring your email signatures)
- Office templates (backing up and restoring your Office templates)
Settings that will not migrate and will have to be reset:
- Outlook reader pane views
- Recent documents list
