The University Libraries are hosting a one-hour workshop via Zoom on Wednesday, November 10th from 10-11am. Registration is required: . A Zoom link will be sent to registrants.
Teaching faculty who participate in the workshop can submit a brief review of an open textbook in their discipline within six weeks to receive a $200 stipend funded by VIVA, the Virtual Library of Virginia .
Open textbooks may be selected from the Open Textbook Library . The Open Textbook Library contains 950+ open textbooks which are openly licensed and freely available online.
This workshop includes:
- Discussion of course material perceptions and preferences
- Course material cost impacts on students
- What we mean (and don't mean) by "open textbook"
- Creative Commons licenses
- Other faculty reviews
The workshop is co-hosted by 51情报站 and Virginia Tech. It will be co-presented by Karen Vaughan, Head of Scholarly Communication and Publishing, 51情报站 Libraries, and Anita Walz, Assistant Director of Open Education, VT University Libraries.
