Welcome to the Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at 51情报站 has a tradition of exceptional research, scholarship, education, and service. We are housed within the College of Sciences. Our nationally recognized faculty conduct basic and applied research on a broad variety of topics in psychology. Our scholars examine basic processes of human perception, cognition, emotion, and behavior, but our most extensive research portfolio focuses on the application of scientific solutions to problems of human health, work, and adaptation. We offer both a master's degree in experimental psychology and the PhD. Our faculty are organized around four concentrations for our Ph.D. programs: Health Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Human Factors (HFES-accredited), and Clinical Psychology (APA-accredited). Our Clinical Psychology program is offered in collaboration with Norfolk State University. I encourage you to take some time to visit the faculty and laboratory websites to learn more about the amazing research being conducted in psychology at 51情报站.
In addition to graduate study, the Department of Psychology offers the Bachelor's of Science in psychology. Our faculty are dedicated teachers and mentors. The degree program at 51情报站 has substantial opportunity for students to choose courses that tailor their experience to their interests. In addition, we offer the complete BS program either fully online or in person. Although some students pursue their degrees entirely online or on campus, students may also mix these two ways of accessing courses. In addition to traditional courses, our curriculum includes laboratory experiences and the opportunity to participate in practicum and internship experiences. One of the most exciting opportunities for undergraduate students is learning through application: working with faculty in their labs on current research to learn psychology
