The 2005 Distinguished Alumni award for the College of Sciences was given to Dr. Gerald Gamache on October 21, 2005. It was probably not something he expected back when he was a police officer in San Diego California, but Dr. Gamache's career path took some turns.An interest in psychology resulted in a PhD from 51情报站 in 1986. His fascination with human factors eventually put him in charge of the world's largest longitudinal study of the physical and cognitive decrements in performance associated with Chernobyl.

Gerald Gamache has been a man on the move.His work has extended from the sea to outer space and spans the globe. He was a psychologist aboard the aircraft Carrier America where he evaluated pilots and conducted human factors experiments on cockpit design and ejection seats; and he was involved in studies of Mir Space Station astronauts. Gamache is currently President of KGA International, a company that provides organizational and human factors consulting to government and industry world-wide.

A resident of Florida, Dr. Gamache is Associate Professor of Psychology at Flagler College in St. Augustine.He is also an adjunct professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Columbia College. He holds an honorary Doctor of Science from Kiev Polytechnic University and is a consultant to the Minister of Education, Ukraine. The author of five books, he has received many academic honors and awards as well as 22 military decorations. He is listed in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Technology and in 1999 was designated one of the 2000 outstanding scientists of the 20th century.
