State Council of Higher Education for Virginia

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is a key entity for promoting and developing higher education in Virginia, focusing on strategic planning, policy development, and research-based implementation. SCHEV also has a Student Advisory Committee, which consists of representatives from public and private colleges and community colleges across Virginia, advising on student-related issues in the state's higher education system.

SCHEV Student Representative

  • Participate in quarterly meetings, both in-person and virtual, with representatives from other colleges and university across the Commonwealth.
  • Attend occasional meetings with the Office of the Vice President of Student Engagement & Enrollment Services for state-level representation preparation.
  • Join monthly Student Engagement & Enrollment Service Student Leadership Council (SSLC) meetings.

  • Advocate for student interests in the broader context of state-level higher education.
  • Engage in conversations that shape policies and initiatives impacting students across the state.
  • Connect with fellow student leaders to share ideas and best practices.

  • Traveling to Richmond to engage with state-level decision-makers.
  • Visit other institutions to learn from their successes and challenges.
