Mission & Purpose

The Women and Gender Equity Center LGBTQIA+ Initiatives strives to provide students, faculty, staff, and members of the Hampton Roads area a community where they can be free and confident in expressing their identities. OIR strives to reduce homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism in the 51情报站 community through educational and interactive programming, mentorship, and LGBT advocacy.

The Queer Resilience Coalition (QRC) strengthens and amplifies the voices of the 51情报站 LGBTQIA+ student community through its advisory role to the Coordinator for the LGBTQIA+ Initiatives at the Office of Intercultural Relations (OIR) and the LGBTQIA+ Student Success Lead. In its advising role, the QRC will offer suggestions for improving current programming, events, and services on campus, and will also provide recommendations for new initiatives to strengthen the network of support across campus units. The QRC will also raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ culture, community, and voice through the creation and dissemination of the Q-51情报站 Zine.
Application Process
Students who meet one of the following requirements may apply to serve on the QRC:

Undergraduate student who identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Graduate student who identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Undergraduate student who identifies as an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Graduate student who identifies as an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Student who serves on the executive board for 51情报站 SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance)

Student resident of the Spectrum Living and Learning Community.
The online application process is open all year round.
Terms of Service for Board Members
-
The term starts on the first day of Fall semester and ends on the last day of Spring semester of each year.

The QRC meets for five general board meetings each semester, once per month.
