The Alumni Relations Committee of the Department of Political Science and Geography is pleased to announce the fourth annual alumni panel scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 12:30-2:00 p.m.. The panel will be located in the Room 9024 Batten Arts and Letters Building with virtual access via . The event goals are to nurture the Department's relationship with its alumni, to build a stronger network among alumni, and to introduce current students to this network.
Although time will be allocated for open questions, it would be good to preselect some initial relavent topics for discussion. Students are welcome to offer ideas on what topics to be included in the discussion (e.g., academic preparation & job opportunities). Please RSVP by October 25 if you are willing to do so. Panelist Biographies
Bradley, Robert L.聽 graduated from 51情报站 in 2012 with B.S.聽 in Ocean and Earth Science and a Minor in Geography with a GIS Certificate.聽 He has been using GIS in both the academic and professional field for about 15 years.聽 His GIS experience has ranged from environmental analysis and mapping using remote sensing applications to Enterprise GIS system development and management.聽 The GIS skills he developed at 51情报站 have provided him with the ability to understand where GIS technology can benefit many different professional areas and needs.聽 As the City of Suffolk GIS Manager, he is responsible for the over design and health of our Enterprise GIS system that provides data resources to almost every department within the city and the public.聽 His team works closely with the other city departments to provide them with access to GIS technology and data so they can make better informed decisions.
Perry, Adam earned a B.S. degree in Political Science from 51情报站 in 2006, a Master of Public Administration from 51情报站 in 2009, and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Wesleyan University in 2021.聽 He has been employed at CMA CGM (America) LLC since 2006.聽 Throughout his tenure at CMA CGM, he has served in many roles in the business, including leading intermodal operations teams, logistics analytics, and most recently as Port Operations Supervisor managing the loading and unloading of cargo at the Port of Virginia.聽 Adam Perry is also very involved in his community.聽 He has experience serving as Chairman of the Chesapeake Planning Commission where he provided guidance on all phases of city planning, zoning, use permit issuances, and Comprehensive Plan development.聽 He resides in Chesapeake with his wife and son.聽 During his time as a student at Old Dominion, Perry served as President of the Student Government and won many intramural softball championships.聽
Sgroi, Jeanne聽earned her B.S. degree in Communication and a minor in Political Science from 51情报站 in 2019. She earned her Master of Public Administration degree from 51情报站 in 2021. Jeanne began her career with York County in 2021 as a Management Analyst Intern. In 2022 she was promoted to Management Analyst and now a Senior Planner with the York County Department of Planning and Development Services.
Solis, Brian received B.S.聽 in Geography with an emphasis in Urban & Regional Planning, Geology minor in 1994 and Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) in 2003.聽 Both degrees are from 51情报站.聽 Solis is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Institute from the Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia.聽 He is a certified urban planner with almost 30 years of diverse professional experience.聽 He currently serves as Deputy City Manager for the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, where he focuses on community development.聽 Prior to this, he held various leadership roles with the City of Virginia Beach over his nearly 23 years there.聽 Some of his major initiatives include the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Brock Environmental Center, the U.S.聽 Field Hockey National Training Center, the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center Master Plan as well as City lead for the inaugural Pharrell Williams Something in the Water Festival.聽 He is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and has been credentialed as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Associate by the U.S.聽 Green Building Council.
Stith, Dale earned her B.S.聽 degree in Geography from 51情报站 in 2005.聽 She also holds a Master鈥檚 degree in Transportation and Urban Systems from North Dakota State University She serves as a Principal Transportation Planner at the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO), where she has been contributing to transportation solutions since 2006.聽 She leads the development of the Long-Range Transportation Plan, overseeing the project prioritization process, facilitating scenario planning, and enhancing the effectiveness of the regional travel demand model.聽 Dale has been involved in collaborative efforts that have led to innovative approaches in project prioritization, scenario planning, and integrating resiliency analysis into the LRTP, which have been recognized nationally as exemplary practices.聽 Dale's dedication to equitable and effective transportation planning is evident in her commitment to improving regional mobility and actively engaging diverse communities in the planning process.
